Following the success of last year's sculptural intervention of Jerusalem Passage, Russell Bamber returns to Clerkenwell Design Week with an exciting new large scale work Scoop and Drop, which alludes to architectural folly and the oddity and majesty of abandoned fortified buildings.
Faux marble returns once again, only this time under the authorship of the artist's hand-painted trompe l’oeil; abutted against furiously intense graffiti-like ‘scribble’ of
graphite and coloured pencil, also by the artist. “Scoop and Drop” suggests that the surfaces be offered the same measure of luxury and gravitas as the revered marbles associated with the heroic sculpture.
Russell Bamber lives and works in East London, making sculptural objects and spatial interventions from his studio in Hackney, London. He is shortlisted for this year's Royal Academy Summer Exhibition; and is open to commissions.
