Kimberly Bartlett

Introba

Kimberly is a Head of Lighting Design at Introba (formerly Elementa Consulting) for the UK and Europe region. Drawing on experience globally, she leads a team of dedicated professionals, designing and analysing lighting and electrical systems throughout the UK. From lamp posts to building facades, cinemas to cryotherapy suites and everything in between, Kimberly has a hand in the intricate nature of light in the built environment.

A keen volunteer, she was admitted as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Lightmongers in February 2023 and is due to become a Liveried Member in September of this year. She sits on the Education and Membership committee for the Lightmongers and is, along with her other volunteering roles, spearheading a new era of education for lighting professionals. She also sits on the Education and Membership Committee for the CIBSE Society of Light and Lighting since 2023, and in 2018 she was appointed as Vice President – Education at the Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP), a critical volunteer role for the institution at the forefront of technical excellence and education in the lighting industry.

Outside of the lighting profession, Kimberly volunteers as a STEM Ambassador and works with the science and engineering-based charities Pride in STEM, Inter Engineering and Modern Muse. Through these charities and groups, she attends schools, museums, and educational establishments to speak to and work with people of all ages, promoting lighting and engineering as a career to the next generation of engineers and scientists, along with career counselling and participation in the People Like Me programme. Kimberly is passionate about engaging with young people, especially girls and young LGBT+ people, to show that women and members of the LGBT+ community are leading successful lives in the engineering profession. As part of this, she was profiled by Inter Engineering in their “What’s it Like being LGBT in Engineering?” video series promoted by The Royal Academy of Engineering and others.

In 2019 she was listed in the inaugural Financial Times and Inclusive Boards Top 100 Women Leaders in Engineering (UK and Europe), cementing her position as a role model to the next generation of engineers.

Pride in Stem co-founder Dr Alfredo Carpineti speaks of her as “a phenomenal speaker and a role model for STEM” after she said on behalf of OutThinkers at the London Science Museum’s International Festival of Design in September 2018 and the LGBT+ History Month Lectures at the Institute of Cancer Research in February 2019.
