Studio Palatin was founded by Vienna born Barbara Palatin-Doyle who lives and works between her hometown and New York. Her atelier is nestled in a scenic courtyard in the 1st District in Vienna. As an artist she specializes in limited editions of contemporary artistic lighting. Sculptural, yet functional, the objects blur the boundary between art and design. The form is as important as the noble materials used in creating these objects of light which include porcelain, bronze, gold, silver, and Japanese paper. The artist’s sources of inspiration are the craftsmanship and the materials of past centuries. Inspired by the splendor of precious objects of art/design from earlier centuries, she revives this essence of the past but with a contemporary form. Each piece is hand made with great attention to detail. In her work Barbara strives to produce the heirlooms of the future meant to be appreciated for generations to come.
