Wind Uplift Hidden & Visual Fixings
Mitigating for wind-uplift is easier than you think
Wind uplift occurs when strong winds hit a building and are forced up and over it. As wind accelerates upwards and over, it creates a pocket of negative pressure on horizontal surfaces, such as balconies and terraces.
This negative pressure exerts a suction effect on the surface, lifting paving and decking from the supporting substructure and causing significant damage.
RYNO Rail Paving Systems for terraces and balconies now benefit from out-of-sight and mechanical fixings that secure paving, creating safe living spaces.
RYNO Pedestal Paving Systems for terraces can be supplied with mechanical fixings that clamp the paving to the pedestal head.
Existing raised paving areas can be secured against wind uplift with the Retrofit Wind Uplift Clip – designed to fit in a 4mm paver gap – which ties the surface together for complete peace of mind.
