skai® Evida Fiber – more nature than ever before
Sustainability and artificial leather – two spheres that generally seem incompatible – were harmoniously combined by Continental in the form of skai® Evida back in 2008. With the further development of skai® Evida Fiber, the material has now become even more sustainable. Ninety percent of the components used in this high-quality upholstery fabric, which bears the Oeko-Tex seal in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, are made from natural and renewable raw materials sourced both locally and from across the EU. Furthermore, common plasticizers have been rigorously dispensed with in production. Instead, alternatives based on renewable raw materials are used. Natural mineral fillers and pigments were also selected with a view to the high sustainability requirements.
But this high-quality vegan material does not merely impress with its intrinsic values. Its functional qualities include high abrasion resistance, disinfectant resistance and tear resistance. It is also PAH-free, phthalate-free and lightfast. The resulting durability and easy maintenance make skai® Evida particularly suitable for applications in the demanding commercial and residential sectors, including medical and physiotherapy practices, as well as hotels, restaurants and cafés. With a deliberately chosen sustainability look, the material also meets the requirements of the Medical Devices Act, toy standard and common flame retardancy ratings.
Thanks to its practical properties, skai® Evida Fiber contributes to the fulfillment of Continental’s ambitious sustainability goals throughout the entire product life cycle, from production to disposal.
