Inspired by the Roman philosophy of caring for the body and mind.

Their baths were designed for enjoyment and wellness, surrounded by architectural beauty and luxurious materials. When you can have anything you like, you settle on what you really want.

Painted canvas inspired by a Fresco depicting the garden of Livia in ancient Rome. The reclining figure surrounded by exotic fruits, herbs and shrubs and small birds is pixilated. Through the in and out of focus, achieved by shredding the artwork into straps for re assembling via weaving in a box tapestry in a repeating pattern, of 5 mm 10 mm and 20 mm straps.

Highlights will be gilded with 23 carat gold, silver and palladium, other selected areas will be both hand and free embroidered with a scrambled pattern of fauna and flora, with a palette created to deliver an experience of timeworn finery, quiet opulence with a whisper of calm.

Method: hand woven contemporary tapestry, painted canvas, gilding and embroidery.

Each art-work is painted, embroidered and gilded twice these two artworks will then be shredded in a controlled process. The tapestry weave will re assemble the two artworks into one art piece, a tessellation with quiet echoes of ancient Pompeian mosaics and frescoes
